SUMMARY OF THE DECEMBER 19, 2025 WORKSHOP & CONFERENCE

"FUTURE OF HBCU IN AFRICA: A HIGH-LEVEL HBCU LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP:”

Vision: The overarching vision is to integrate HBCUs into Africa's development, particularly focusing on higher education, reconciliation, peace, and human development. This is evident from the involvement of the Angolan Minister of External Relations, whose portfolio includes these areas, and the meeting's title, which emphasizes the "Future of HBCUs in Africa."

Mission: The mission of the workshop is to create a platform for dialogue, partnership, and strategic planning between HBCU leaders and African stakeholders. This includes exploring opportunities for academic collaboration, research, and cultural exchange, ultimately leading to the establishment of HBCU satellite campuses and other engagement models in Africa. The meeting is designed to introduce HBCU leaders to representatives from African Union Member States, specifically from the Great Lakes Region and SADC member states, to facilitate these interactions.
